Hello,

Whoever recommend Wool on here I owe you one. It is described as a masterpiece and I wholeheartedly agree. The absolute best book I have read in a very long time. Which is saying something as I average a book per week most of the time. I’m now on to shift and I feel the same. I have ordered dust as I will finish this in a couple of days I’m sure.

So whoever you are please recommend something else for when I finish this trilogy. Are his other books as good?

I can strongly recommend the website fantastic fiction as a way of find more books by authors you love and also a others who write similar novels

www.fantasticfiction.com/h/hugh-howey/

This link shows all his books

Not sure if it was I who recommended Wool on your thread, OP, but it's the best series I've read for years and I would always recommend it

Also try, Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky. It's about spiders ! It's fab.

Hugh Howeys Sand is good too

@anythinginapinch and @MissCherryCakeyBun thanks I’m obsessed with Hugh howey. I love his writing style. The pace is just right for me and the introduction of characters is easy to follow but gripping.

The Wool trilogy is SO good! Definitely one of my comfort reads. And PP upthread mentioned The Passage by Justin Cronin - his trilogy is even better than Wool. Another slow starter but absolutely fantastic reads.

If you fancy a stand-alone book, I highly recommend The Fireman by Joe Hill. He writes just as well as his father (Stephen King).

Wool was terrific so I add my thanks for the recommendation :) I liked it the best of the trilogy but I wouldn’t have wanted to have missed out on the revelations in the other books, so they were also well worth the read.

@triplecheeese just finished Nod over the last couple of days. One of the most bizarre books I have ever read, absolutely brilliant. What a clever and exquisite use of words. Thanks for the recommendation.

Dust arrived so I’m starting that today. I feel a bit sad it’s the last instalment.

Il come back about the other recommendations, when I have got through them.

@NoShitHemlock I think the passage books are great but they’re much harder to get into than wool. The style can be a barrier to getting into it.

I loved the first two, but really struggled to get into the last one even despite that.

I just read Nod too, in a couple of sittings. Very compelling

DumpedinKilburn · 06/03/2023 23:39

It says May 5th at the end of the trailer

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 06/03/2023 23:41

Well spotted! I was rushing to link it and must have missed it

Shesinthegym · 07/03/2023 09:19

@DumpedinKilburn i watched again and saw that. Not long.

Finished Dust in two days. I’m waiting for the passage to get delivered today.
