DS1's not read those - possibly a target for his Christmas book tokens, as yet unspent. They featured on Newsround tonight and he looked quite interested, and I've heard excellent things of them.

DD1 read Blood Fever over Christmas but didn't enjoy it as much as Silverfin. She thought there was too much death and Italian - I haven't read either so can't comment.

DS1 quite enjoys a bit of death yoyo, so may be right up his street!

Has your dd read the Alex Rider books?

Roisin - I have been meaning to email you . Sorry. DD has read the first Alex Rider but hasn't been keen to read others. She is completely absorbed by the Ann(e) of Green Gables series at the moment. She also enjoyed some Pete Johnson books and some Ayckbourn plays. I can provide titles should you be interested. Too tired to think. Took DDs to see The Bartered Bride today in Covent Garden and feel physically and emotionally drained. Had tears streaming down my face at the end because it was so wonderful.

Hello!
I want to read Silverfin and Bloodfever if it's any good. There are also some texts at school that I haven't read - Two weeks with the Queen and something else I can't even remember the title of.
I read Dragon Rider (Cornelia Funke) this week, but wasn't that impressed. Has anyone read any of her books in German? I think the translation is slightly stilted, and would love to read the original.

DS1 and I abandoned "Dragon Rider" a few chapters in - he wasn't making headway and I started reading it, but, like you, wasn't that impressed.

We are reading Lemony Snickett together at night because he finds it too sad to read alone.

I must check out the James Bond Junior books because they, and Hitchhiker, would be right up DS1's street.
