If anyone is looking for an absolute page-turner to get into I can recommend 'How to Survive Everything' by Ewan Morrison. Has anyone else read it?
It is the story of a divorced 'prepper' dad who kidnaps his kids at the start of a (future) pandemic outbreak. On the micro/relationship level it illustrates the tensions between divorced couples in many ways, including differing attitudes to keeping kids safe. And on the other hand it reflected the macro level big societal issues as trust in governments and mainstream media. It also clearly touches on the issue of conspiracy theories affecting relationships - which a lot of us have experience of first hand.
It's also a gripping read and still actually reeling because it was so compelling and thrilling, right up to the end, and I haven't torn through a novel like that in years. It's really well observed/written and I got really into the characters. Haley (the young girl narrator) was so relateable and her observations were so astute and often hilarious. I loved it.
Would be amazing to hear what anyone else thinks!
