In the middle of this and have to recommend it. Such a fascinating family and very funny. Also really well written and an easy read, the author doesn't go off on a tangent into some ultra-boring side plot, a depressing feature of some biographies, i find.

Has anyone else read it?

I read it a couple of years ago. As with any historical biogs though I find you get a much better idea of the people concerned by reading other books about them by other authors.
It was really interesting reading though. Wouldn't mind hearing Diana's desert island discs programme though.

Bumping this because am the greatest fan of Nancy's books and read it a while ago and was actually sickened at what a horrid bunch of old fascists they were-Diana truly evil and the authors fawning over her and the dread Mosley. Put me right over the whole lot of them. However have just read "Decca, the letters of Jessica Mitford" which is wonderful and shows just how heart-rending it was for her to be exiled from her family but how morally she felt she had no other choice. Anyway if you felt the biog was unfair to Jessica and uncritical about the horrid old fascists then read this -it is inspiring.
I didn't know that JK Rowling's heroine was Jessica Mitford-she even named her daughter after her!
