I really liked lesley Glaisters books and have read all now

have just read in a good light by clare chambers which was quite good

also liked ice trap - kitty sewell

i don't like anything taxing but nor do i like things like shopaholic and baby

i think i'm probably after something with an intriging/thrilling plot but not necessarily murder or gore

can anyone suggest anything for me?

i will be ordering from amazon later

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield.
Our book club did it before xmas and everyone loved it. Think you can read the first chapter or extract on Amazon

Have you read the Dalziel and Pascoe books? they are a good read?...............

Go to The Book People and get one of their fiction bargain batches (the link is to the front page of that listing) - maybe for you the collection of Daphne du Maurier, or the recent Penguins?

They are extraordinary bargains (the du Maurier batch is 10 books for £9.99 eg) and you can just explore around and see what you might like/read things you might not otherwise pick up, without feeling you've wasted money.

But beware, you may become (like me) a Book People/Red House (which is its linked dedicated children's books site) ADDICT

PS - Thirteenth Tale is good. Did you know when it was first published a couple of years ago it was one of the shockingest lowest sellers ever recorded? - real example of a "sleeper", needing very gradual word of mouth for people to realise how good it is.

Agath Raisin isn't bad, couldn't read a lot in one go though but not bad. Start with Quiche of Death!

sophiewd · 01/02/2008 10:35

I liked the Agataha Raisin books too

Agree about The Thirteenth Tale,I loved it.
Quite enjoyed The Book Thief, didn't really enjoy Random Acts of Heroic Love.I think I was expecting more after all the reviews I had read.
Just reading Agent Zigzag, that is brilliant!
