Fiction books for a 12 yr old about particle physics/anti matter sort of thing?

This is very far outside my kind of book 😂 and I don't even know if it exists.

I don't think I mean sci fi as such, because DS's interest is firmly rooted in facts and actual science.

That said, he did enjoy His Dark Materials, which does stray outside cold hard facts.... But he isn't into full on sci fi (doesn't like Dr Who for example).

Any suggestions?

I was coming to suggest His Dark Materials (best books ever!) but see he has read those. I'm interested to see what is suggested though as I could do with some new books (yes, I am a grown woman but liked HDM so suspect I may like what else is suggested! 😂)

The Uncle Albert books are good. That sort of thing?

If it’s fiction about science then it’s sci fi. The genre is broader than Star Trek.

I presume Amazon categories aren’t any help?

You could try Christopher Edge: Infinite Lives of Maisie Day, The Jamie Drake Equation, Many Worlds of Albie Bright etc.

These look perfect and I'm ordering a couple now!

Thank you all for the suggestions. I know what you mean about sci fi but I suppose what I'm getting at is that he likes realistic scenarios, not futuristic or too fantastical!

I also remembered my old copy of Sophie's World which isn't really science based but deals with the issues he likes to think/talk about, so I'm on a mission to find that today.

Sophie’s World is a good shout.
There are some really good physics non-fiction options out there too that he might like. I really enjoyed Parallel Worlds and In Search of Schrodinger’s Cat. My First Book of Quantum Physics is excellent too - it’s accessible to primary age children, but works for all ages.
