If I like the Cormoran Strike series... what else?

It doesn’t have to be a detective series or crime, though that would be fine. I really like that you’re invested in the arc of the characters, not just who did it. Not just because they might get together but where they’re going individually. I don’t find many crime series really like that, though I’m happy to be wrong! It’s reasonably complex with a lot of characters but still very readable, as I struggle with getting into books these days. Any suggestions?

The Jackson Brodie books by Kate Atkinson? I lover her books, including this series.

Have you read the Ruth Galloway series by Elly Griffiths? That would fit the bill perfectly. Lots of character development over the series.

I love Robert galbraith
I'm currently reading the Cazalet chronicles by Elizabeth Jane Howard. That's about a family from before ww2, through the war and on. The first book is called the light years and I've just finished it and immediately started the next book. I am invested in the characters and their story.

If you're going to read Kate Atkinson life after life and a god in ruins are amazing. I like all her books. Less keen on Jackson Brodie ones.

I read cordelia grey mysteries by p.d James immediately after finishing my last Strike novel. An unsuitable job for a woman was good. I saw a recommendation that described cordelia as a predecessor to Robin.

Also going to suggest Kate Atkinsons Jackson Brodie books or Val McDairmid's Karen Prire books (not her other crime series though, I read the first book in the wire in the blood series after enjoying the Karen Prire books and it was bloody awful!)

John Harvey’s Resnick novels, Ian Rankin’s Rebus and John Lawton’s Troy series. Oh and Philip Kerr’s German detective whose name escapes me.
