I recently enjoyed "see you in September"
I usually like dystopia future genre but this was something very different from that and was excellent.

The Wall - John Lanchaster -dystopian

The cult - Abby Davies - thriller

Frankenstein - Marry Shelley - classic (and completely different to what I expected)

Whats you’re usual choice?

If you tell us genres that you're unfamiliar with and would like to explore, I'm sure the hive-mind can generate some suggestions.

The Count of Monte Cristo. I never thought I would enjoy this but my DD recommended it. As he takes revenge on all those who betrayed him, it is gripping.

I also enjoyed Kathleen Tessaro The Perfume Collector.

Yes, The Count of Monte Cristo is absolutely brilliant!

What do you usually read??

Ylvamoon · 29/04/2022 14:08

Non Fiction:

Prisoners of Geography by Tim Marshall.

It really does give you a better understanding of world politics ... an excellent read to understand past and present.

NoSquirrels · 29/04/2022 14:09

What do you usually read?

Hi all thanks for the replies I will look into the suggestions mentioned

As for what I usually read, it's quite random I recently read Alison Weir Six Tudor Queens series (all 6 books), Agatha Christies the mysterious affair at styles (and am currently reading the murder on the links), before that I read Charlotte Brontes Jane Eyre and Jane Austens Pride and Prejudice

My daughter is in year 9 and currently reading off mice and men so I've been reading that alongside (read years ago but refreshed myself so can discuss with her)

Read a couple of stephen Kings books last year on hubby's suggestion

I will give any book a go I just get stumped when looking for a new read lol

Thanks again all

Fingersmith by Sarah Walters - amazing story
The Heart's Invisible Furies - John Boyne
Ruth Rendell/Barbara Vine - I love pretty much everything she ever wrote and because she's so good at human nature, they don't date.
Anne Cleeves - Shetland and Vera series.
The Black House trilogy by Peter May
The House trilogy by Nora Lofts - for historical fiction.
The Sunne in Spendour - about Richard III - is marvellous.
