Having had two babies close together I've been too tired to read for a few years so I'm a bit out of the loop of what books are good and who to read.

I'm just finishing 'Where the Crawdads Sing' by Delia Owens.
Any ideas what I'd like next as I loved this book.

I love it too. Try The Once and Future Witches by Alix E Harrow.

I loved this one as well!

Try 'The Island' by Victoria Hislop.

A real unexpected favourite recently was Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf - it probably helped that I was reading it for book club, but I gulped it down.

Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine

I thought you were giving me the title and your opinion of it 😂

I've popped it in my Amazon basket as a reminder. Thank you

So funny, I saw the post title and cane on to recommend where the crawdads sing!

I enjoyed the tea girl of hummingbird Lane by Lisa see. Also enjoyed Margaret forster 'ladies maid' and other Margaret forster books.
Have you read memoirs of a geisha? Story of a young girl growing up, spans over many years

The Woman at 72 Derry Lane by Carmel Harrington. A great read.

@pompomseverywhere - not so much dark as empowering of women! Fabulous strong female characters.

I enjoyed Where the Crawdads Sing and although these suggestions are quite different I thought they had the same feel.

The Lido - Libby Page
Away with the Penguins - Hazel Prior
Mrs Bensons Beetle - Rachel Joyce
Rhys Bowen books

Another great Rachel Joyce book is ‘the music shop.’
Also dreamygirl the tea girl book seems to have echoes of one I’ve just finished called ‘How we disappeared.’ Brilliant but harrowing. Although it all comes right in the end (that doesn’t say what I want it to but I can’t find the words. The end works and is really not depressing but uplifting somehow.)
I’ve put your recommendation on my list!
