But get all obsessed about summarising them into notes to refer back to later Sad

What do you all do? Do you just read and leave it there? I feel like I don't want to
Miss out on any decent advice or tips etc. But it means it takes me forever to read a book and it takes the joy out I think

Ha! This was nice to read, OP :)
I've never managed to find one that I could get to the end of although I usually have lots saved in my ebay watch list. This is one that I'm thinking of finally getting on and buying

I do just the same.Bedtime reading is any easy to read rubbishy novel .But if I want a particular self help educational book I'll buy it no matter what price then I have to sit at a table with pen and paper and take notes. Takes the pleasure out of reading and it takes ages.

I love a good self help book! I never do any of the things they suggest but they are so positive and full of promise...

Yeah I have read a great number of self-help books (and still counting). Sometimes I think it’s hilarious how much self-help I read. It’s actually pretty exhausting constantly trying to improve Grin

@fataroundthemiddle I want to try and change! I've got so many to go through otherwise..

Cannot help it, I remember a 'joke' book on hanging. As in hanging oneself. it was in cartoon form and one cartoon depicted a bloke standing on loads of self help books to get ready to hang himself! Sick yes, but the cartoons were funny. And of course whenever I look at a self help book, I think of the cartoons!

How about trying Blinkist.

It summarises books into a 15-30 minute podcast so essentially distills the salient points.

Do a free trial and take one of the books you've already read and made notes on, listen to the Blinkist and decide if it captures enough of the salient points.

If you feel it does, next time you have a self help book to read, read the book and then listen to the Blinkist and bullet point what Blinkist have noted as the salient points.

In theory much quicker.
