Hello, I'm struggling to find a book to use my credits for in my 30 day free trial. I enjoy science fiction and thrillers, but not really romance. I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the choice! Books I've enjoyed are:
All the light we cannot see
The book thief
Behind her eyes
I'm 5 books in on The wheel of time but am getting bored
The hunger games (read twice)
Game of thrones (read twice)
There are others but these stand out as the sort of thing I like. I'd really appreciate any recommendations please!

Girl A is brilliant, if dark, and very well narrated.

AfterEightMintyCedric · 30/12/2021 10:04

You might also like The Midnight Library and The Tattooist of Auschwitz if you haven't read then already.

Fedupofmagic · 30/12/2021 10:06

Anything by Brandon Sanderson. I particularly like The Way of Kings, but it's it's start of a as yet uncompleted series.

Or Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch. Has one of the best narrators I've ever listened to.

playmelikeasymphony · 30/12/2021 10:09

In my opinion The Midnight Library is a good book but doesn’t live up to the hype. I enjoyed it but came away wondering why I’d heard so many people rave about it.

The Calculating Stars by Mary Robinette Kowal is an amazing scifi book

ThackeryBinks · 30/12/2021 10:59

The Book of Dust is fantastic on audible as it's narrated by Micheal Sheen. I also really enjoyed The Rotherweird Series by Andrew Caldecott. I love Terry Pratchett and have just finished listening to Hogfather.

Italianmeringuebuttercream · 30/12/2021 11:08

Thank you. I downloaded the midnight library as it was free so no liss if I'm not impressed. I'll take a look at your suggestions. I've been pondering my favourite books and it seems I'm drawn to Sci fi/dystopia, but will literally read anything, I just need to be pointed in the right direction, if you see what I mean?

The Detective Tom Douglas books by Rachel Abbott are good stories, keep you guessing until the end and the narrator is easy to listen to

idontgetpaidenoughforthis · 30/12/2021 11:32

And if you like dystopia have a look at Neal Shusterman, particularly Unwind. I read them
On kindle rather than audio though not sure if they are available as audiobooks...

Italianmeringuebuttercream · 30/12/2021 14:01

I downloaded The name of the wind by Patrick Rutherford which I started listening to today. Its OK so far, but very long! I'll keep your recommendations in mind for future credits. Thanks again.

Circe by Madeline Miller (also enjoyed Song of Achilles by her)
The Binding by Bridget Collins

both great books with excellent narrators.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 30/12/2021 17:11

I love sci-fi and the Audible books that I have enjoyed the most recently are
Lock In by John Scalzi (and the sequel Head On)
We Are Legion (We Are Bob) by Dennis E. Taylor plus the two sequels.
Almost everything by Jodi Taylor (Cronicles of St Mary's series, Time Police series and The Frogmorton Farm Series but not Elizabeth Cage series)

LoveGoogle · 31/12/2021 10:51

The Name of the Wind is one of my favourites on audible. I enjoyed The Great North Road by Peter Hamilton, which is sci-fi, very long though.
11.22.63 by Stephen King might be worth a look. Not really dystopian, it's a time travelling story, no horror. I thought the narrator was really good.

Italianmeringuebuttercream · 31/12/2021 11:21

Thank you all! These will keep me going through my walks. I appreciate all recommendations xxx

If you like dystopia The Circle by Dave Eggers was brilliant and well narrated.

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 31/12/2021 18:32

The chronicles of st Mary’s by Jodi Taylor. There are a lot of fans of these books on here. I like the kind of books you like. And I try to read one of these for light relief in between.
Best books ever written

I really enjoyed Ready Player One on Audible. Was a surprise hit for me.

Italianmeringuebuttercream · 01/01/2022 09:02

Thank you! I've definitely got some titles to get my teeth stuck into, whether on audible or kindle!
