authors with co-authors?

Just wondering if any of you write with a co-author and if so, what do you do about representation - do you share an agent? I'm feeling a leetle bit invisible as my co-author has a higher media profile and most communication about our joint project seems to flow through her, we're both represented by the same agency. Not sure how to address this without sounding childishly peeved or in need of an ego massage or whatever. I'm feeling like a bit of an also-ran even though the work is evenly split between us.

Authors generally? Is it worth emailing agent and asking to be copied in on all communications instead of waiting for co-author to forward them to me?

That sounds a good idea. I'm not an author or an agent. But I'm a book editor, and if I had a request from a co-author to copy all correspondence to her I would fulfill it conscientiously. Without such a request it's easy to get a bit too casual and just click 'reply' whichever author has written.

(Sorry I haven't really got directly relevant experience, but I didn't want you to go unanswered.)

Thanks threadworm (worrying that you might be my editor and I have made a mild fool of self . . .) finding it very difficult to just say 'please keep me in the frame' or whatever though, without sounding a bit terse.

I'm in the same line of work as Thready, so can only echo what she says... it's your book too, and you have every right to be copied in on all the correspondence. Can you tackle it head-on but it a good-humoured way - make a phone call to the agents and also ring your co-author to explain?

thanks holidaywonk, have spoken to co-author and will talk to agent after Christmas - think I've been a bit feeble about letting my resentment grow instead of behaving like a grown up sooner

When you crack the behaving-like-a-grownup thing, could you let me know how it's done?
