I'm looking for recommendations for cosy wintry books please and also Christmas theme ones.

Something to snuggle down with in front of the fire.

I like historical fiction recently read all of Stacy halls, hamnet, quite like Tracy Chevalier

But also wouldn't mind a bit more light hearted eg woman goes away for the weekend meets man has lots of winter walks and lives happily ever after

Also quite like non fiction

Have got Nigel Slater and Christmas chronicles on order and also a Scandinavian Christmas apparently it's a collection of short stories.

Inspire me please! Bonus points if it's on Kindle so I can read it tonight got a large glass of merlot a bath and a new candle at the ready!

I just finished A Christmas Party by Karen Swan. I think she's written lots of Christmas books. Also recently read Jenny Colgan's Christmas At The Island Hotel which is part of a series but possible to read alone. She's written other Christmas ones too.

These suggestions were emailed to me by Amazon (which I guess is based on my search history, although I wouldn't be surprised if it can mind read too!)

Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher, book or kindle edition available I believe.

Trisha Ashley has written a number of Christmas books - One More Christmas at the Castle, Twelfth Night, The Christmas Invitation, The Magic of Christmas, A Christmas Cracker and Wish upon a Star.

Jenny Colgan has written some too - The Christmas Bookshop is her latest. There are a couple more that are part of different series - the Island series and the Little Beach Street Bakery series - but they do stand alone.

Oh - I forgot - The Box of Delights by John Masefield, and The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper.

Try Mr Dickens and His Carol by Samantha Silva. It’s a novel about how Dickens came to write A Christmas Carol and it’s lovely.

These all sound lovely thank you!

I read Jeannette Winterson's Christmas Days last year which was perfect. There are 12 stories and 12 recipes so you could read one of each on each of the 12 days of Christmas.

It's not exactly Christmassy or cosy but Wolf Winter is a brilliant Nordic book set in the 1700s. It's very atmospheric.
I also like Hercule Poirot's Christmas if you're an Agatha Christie fan.

The Doomsday Book by Connie Willis

A bit different but I quite like Hogfather - not a huge terry pratchett fan in general but really like the story so often give it a read in December.

Another vote for Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher! It’s a lovely steady, cosy, uplifting book.
