I fancy reading about the warrior queen. Has anyone read any novels about her? Any recommended titles. Thanks you.

The Boudica series by Manda Scott is supposed to be good - am just thinking about starting myself (it's that time of year)..

The first one is Dreaming the Eagle

Thank you. I did see that series but had not heard of it before. Will see if the library have a copy.

I love "The Eagle and the Raven" by Pauline Gedge. It's a long book and for the first half the central character is Caradoc although we occasionally have chapters centering on Boudicca as a child and a young woman. Then for the second half of the book she is the central viewpoint character for most chapters.

I was coming on to say Manda Scott too. The books are captivating - they really draw you in to the story.

The Manda Scott series is just brilliant. I still think about them years after reading them. Think I might re-read them actually

Manda Scott’s website has some interesting background to the Boudicca story.

Her other books are great too, I loved Treachery of Spies.

I love the Rosemary Sutcliff one, Song for a Dark Queen. It's for children (or teens?) so it's not a long read, but it's very good. It's centred around a young man who is her harper/singer.

The Horse Coin by David Wishart is a good read. It’s mainly from the perspective of the Romans in the early part of the tale, but gradually changes its focus, in a way mirroring what the people at the time must have experienced.
