Hello!

I was wondering if anyone used this? I am a new user to audible and it took a while to get into audiobooks but with the right narrator, I really enjoy it.

I am off on holiday soon and love reading. I was wondering if you had thoughts on kindle unlimited?

I am worried that a disadvantage would be that won't get access to the good blockbusters and forced to read only titles that are in they're library.

I am very picky about the books I like. I suppose the advantage of kindle unlimited is that I don't have to continue with a book if I don't enjoy it.

Thanks!

You can read what you like, having kindle unlimited doesn't restrict you to only the KU titles.

However, you obviously have to pay for non KU books and if you are reading that book that's less time available to read the included books so depending on how much you read, you might find you're paying for nothing.

I think they're doing a 3 month free trial at the moment so why not give it a try? I think it's only worth it if you read a lot and like the KU books, because most of them are quite cheap, £1-3, so you have to read a few a month for it to be worthwhile.

I do like some of the KU books, but also find that most of the books I want to read aren't on KU.

I have the free trial at the moment but won't be continuing when it ends because I don't read enough to be worth paying and I have lots of unread books that I bought for 99p.

That's my tactic, keep an eye on the prices of the books I want to read using ereaderiq or putting them in the Amazon wish list and then buy them when they're 99 p. I spend less than the KU subscription, but I read the books that I want.

I'm in Kindle Unlimited and I love it. I definitely get my money's worth.
I think its value depends on the type of reader you are and your preferred genres. The people who get the most out of it are the heavy readers who consume multiple books a week in popular genres like romance, crime or urban fantasy. I still buy books outright but most of my reading comes from KU.
There's also a cheaper version for children at 1.99 per month, I think, that my DS gets a lot out of.

I've looked at it and have decided that it probably wouldn't work for me. There are some books I want to read on there but I like to mix my reading up. A lot of what is there is Amazon's own imprints. What would make me consider it is some publishers which specialise in reprints of older fiction, eg Dean Street Press's wonderfully named Furrowed Middlebrow imprint who publish some forgotten women of authors from the mid 20th century.

ir you want access to bestsellers and new books from favourite authors through the major publishers, quite a lot come up on Kindle daily and monthly deals, often for 99p but sometimes a little bit more. Some of the titles offered on Kindle Unlimited, especially the Amazon imprints ones - Amezon Crossing, Montlake, Thomas & Mercer, Little A etc, are offered for about £1 several times a year, I have bought some who have used Amazon Kindle publishing to make older books available again or after being dropped by big name publishers. This often happens to authors of quite good books which are never going to be blockbusters.

I'm not

I have it and use it a lot. The frustrating thing is that there are some quality and classic books on there, but it isn't easy at all easy to find them. Inevitably there are some good authors and some rubbish ones in the popular sections, but I find plenty to read. Nothing to lose from a free trial!
