It is a true story about Anna who was abandoned at 4/5 yrs old in the Docklands, London. Fynn, a 16yr old boy takes her home and his family help raise her.

from Amazon:

"Synopsis
...The impact of this extraordinary child on Fynn, his friends and the people in their neighbourhood was to be immense. Nobody who met Anna could remain the same: this intelligent, lively, precocious chatterbox had an outlook on life which completely undercut adult pretensions and illusions. Anna's influence continues today. Anyone dipping into her thought-processes falls under the spell of her luminous innocence, wisdom and intimate relationship with 'Mister God'."

It really does make you think about the way you see the world and how insightful she was at such a young age.

I must say though, if you aren't spiritual or believe in God (even on some rudimentary level) it may be a bit "twee" to handle.

Read it a long time ago as a teenager. Lovely book. Though I do feel if I were reading it for the first time now, middle aged cynicism might make me feel it's a bit contrived and precious at times. Ho hum.

I did ages ago. Is it actually true then? Seem to remember a sequel. And a terrible death.
Very odd book.

As a teenager, yes. Absolutely loathed it. Sorry.

I read it when I was fourteen, which I think was about the right age. Sobbed my heart out at the end (and fell in love with the name Fynn )

There are 2 books that follow on... going to hopefully get them for Christmas (please don't tell me what happens - I know she dies though already!)
