The town - not the festival... any recommendations for a good read - not fussy on the genre.

The Universe v Alex Woods by Gavin Extence is set in Glastonbury iirc and I'm pretty sure there's one by Fay Weldon too but can't remember the title.

There’s a Philippa Gregory one but I can’t remember the name Grin

Thank you - I used to love Fay Weldon - it’s PuffBall - I’ve just ordered it along with the Gavin E one.
Also now looking at Phillipa Gregory - can’t work out the Glastonbury one but they all look intriguing,

Parts of The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley are set there if you're into Arthurian legends? It's as thick as a brick so will keep you going a while.

Dying To Tell by Robert Goddard is partly set there. He writes great twisty mysteries, one of my favourite writers.

Deborah Crombie’s A Finer End. I’ve not read this one, but I really rate her crime novels. Classic English mysteries; intelligent and well written.

Just bought the Phillipa Bowers books

IamEarthymama · 08/04/2021 01:42

As a side note Phillipa Bowers has a lovely little shop in the arcade leading to the Assembly Rooms where her statues of all sizes are displayed. She's very talented indeed.

Here's an article by Normal for Glastonbury listing books set in or featuring the town.

I can recommend NfG's FB and her book about all the idiosyncratic ways of my favourite place

Especially Crap Views of the Tor 😊

I second Chalice by Phil Rickman, but if you enjoy YA fiction, you should also read Marco's Pendulum and Marco and the Blade of Night by Thom Madley - who is Phil Rickman under a pseudonym.
