Loads! What sort of books do you like?

Stumpedasatree · 15/03/2021 16:04

@ChessieFL, all sorts really, particularly dark or horrors.

I don’t really read horror so can’t help you there I’m afraid. Hopefully someone who does will be along soon!

I really enjoyed the audiobook of Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier which may fit the ‘dark’ criteria.

Yes especially version narrated by Anna Massey!

Just finished The Lamplighters by Emma Stonex on audible. So good and atmospheric

Silent Child by Sarah Denzil, its narrated by Joanne Froggart from Downton and its really good, a sequel has just been released too.

Jodi Taylor's Elizabeth Cage books - White Silence & Dark Shadows (and a third, Long Shadows, due in August)
Her Chronicles of St Mary's are great too, though not dark (except in places!)

I am a spy books only girl. But I had a search on here the other day and saw a recommendation for The Son by Phillip Meyer. It is so utterly different to anything I'd ever listen to or read but I am totally hooked and can't wait for tomorrow's dog walk when I can listen again.

I'd try to describe it but amazon does it better!

I'm listening to Girl A, written by Abigail Dean but narrated by Holliday Grainger (plays Robyn in the Strike TV series). An engaging read and one that is well narrated.

Rivers of London series are brilliantly read by Kobna Holdbrook-Smith

Chronicles of St Mary's is great.

The Collapsing Empire series by John Scalzi and also his book “Lock in”.
I prefer when they are read by Will Wheaton
