Aphantasia and reading

I have aphantasia (lack of minds eye) but still enjoy reading but I never picture the story in my mind. I do find long descriptive passages tedious as I am not building up the picture myself.

I was wondering if you also have aphantasia how it affects your reading or enjoyment of books.

My daughter says she can almost smell some scenes in books, which I have also never experienced as I can’t recall smells, nor do smells trigger memories.

I don't think I have full-on aphantasia (I can see things vaguely in my mind's eye), but I don't picture things when I read. I'm a prolific reader and I love books. For me, the words are enjoyable enough!

I have never visualised anything, I thought it was just a saying rather than people could actually make pictures in their head.
