So I like Neil Gaiman and the rivers of London books.

Looking for something similar, especially if it's thriller/detective based and a bit of a series. Not too intense.

Any suggestions please

Have you read the Dresden files series by Jim Butcher?

Garth Nix’s The Left-Handed Booksellers of London.

Sarah Painter’s Crow Investigations.

Jacquelyn Benson’s The Fire in the Glass, which is the first in a series.

The Chronicles of St Mary series.

If you’d like something very light, but clever and well-written, Carolyn Stevermer’s Sorcery and Cecelia novels.

Alexia Gordon’s excellent musical mysteries with ghosts.

It’s not a series, but Emma Bull’s War for the Oaks is terrific, if you’re looking for something a bit Neil Gaimanish.

Charlotte English’s Modern Magick books.

Simon R Green Nightside series. His Hawk and Fisher are urban fantasy detectives as well.

I'm currently reading A Discovery of Witches, Deborah Harkness. Not my usual thing, twas a book choice enforced on us by the library, but I am actually enjoying it. And I have enjoyed some books which I wouldn't normally have read, but shhh, don't tell the library :)

Also try Benedict Jacka.

Try the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs (ignore the terrible covers). Also, Anne Bishop’s The Others. I think Mark Hayden’s The King’s Watch books are very similar to Rivers of London and if you use Prime, they are on Prime Reading . I also loved The Left-handed Booksellers of London and the St Mary’s books. Thanks for the thread - it’s good to have suggestions for new books to read.

I recently read Rotherweird by Andrew Caldecott which I enjoyed. Also Strange Magic by Syd Moore and others in that series. The Invisible Library series by Genevieve Cogman too.
