Dd loved The School for Good and Evil series by Soman Chainani and I'm looking for something similar that she can really get stuck into this winter. She isn't particularly into anything which doesn't help. She loved Malory Towers but she's coming up to 14 now and ready for more grown up fiction.

I've suggested she reads all the Harry Potter books that are on the bookcases but so far she's not picked one up.

I would recommend the Nevermoor series by Jessica Townsend, the Keeper of the lost cities series by Shannon Messenger and the land of stories series by Chris Colfer.

Thank you. I've had a look and the first two look good.

DD1 is 13 and loves The Letter for the King by Tonke Dragt. There's a sequel as well.

The Wind Singer Trilogy by William Nicholson

Any Garth Nix series but particularly Sabriel (trilogy) and the Keys to the kingdom (7 books starting with Mister Monday.

Harley Merlin- I think there's about 20 books so far. They're all available for free in kindle unlimited which is only £7.99 a month. I think the kindle app can make somewhat reluctant readers more inclined to dip in and out of books.

My DD is not a great reader but has devoured the Warrior Cats series (Erin Hunter), also enjoyed Kat Wolfe Investigates , by Lauren St John. She also read "Long Walk to Water" by Linda sue Park, which was more mature and challenging

It's possible she thinks HP too young for her now...but many adults read them too, so maybe she will.pick one up sometime!

Anyway, what about some Malorie Blackman? Noughts and Crosses is an absolute classic, but she has written a great number of books, and has a very readable style.
My DD is a reluctant reader, so I have struggled to find things she will read... but she loved Tin by Padraig Kenny.
She's also really enjoyed The 'Perfect' series by Helena Duggan, which begins with"A Place Called Perfect".
Along the lines of School For Good and Evil, what about Miss Peregrine's School for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs?
The Divergent series (Veronica Roth) and The Hunger Games series (Suzanne Collins), and The Maze Runner series (James Dashner) have become core reading for teenagers nowadays, and moved into the Judy Blume, Paul Zindel, Sweet Valley High slot.

There are also copious numbers of books written by Rick Riordan (Magnus Chase probably better for a teen, but Percy Jackson is eternally popular).
Wolf Brother series by Michelle Paver too.
Philip Reeve has written a huge number of books- Railhead series is good for this age.
DD also enjoyed the Blackthorn Key series by Kevin Sands.

I'd also suggest Mark Haddon's A Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night.

Girl Missing by Sophie McKenzie. Lots of pace and dialogue.
