I normally have two books on the go, a book downstairs and something on my kindle for bed. I have been struggling to focus on reading but getting my mojo back slowly.
However, when I go to bed I am so tired that I find it hard to read more than a couple of pages before I fall asleep. This means the book I am currently reading, I have no idea what is happening, who is doing what etc, it is more I am reading the words not the story.
Can anyone suggest a really easy read that I can just read a bit of but easily get back into. I was wondering about any good diaries or just super easy reads. Any suggestions much appreciated and thanks in advance

Little Fires Everywhere, Celeste Ng
The Song of Achilles, Madeline Miller
This is Going to Hurt, Adam Kay
^all have nice short sections

I have the same problem, OP.
I’m currently reading Listening In, by Jenny Eclair.
It’s a collection of short stories involving women at pivotal points in their lives.
Each story is only a few pages and just the job for a night time read.

Thank you both.
I loved Circe and have downloaded the song of Achilles. I have read the other two already.
I have listening in ready to download when Achilles is finished.
Hopefully I can keep up with the plots :-)

Tales of the City - Armistead Maupin
The first 3 books are from newspaper columns, so very short section.

This is going to hurt and ‘‘Twas the night shift before Christmas - both by Adam Kay, both excellent, but had me laughing out loud in bed much to the annoyance of my sleeping husband!

Tales of the City is an excellent suggestion.

I was going to suggest Diary of a Provincial Lady. Again, originally written as a newspaper column and very funny. Still feels contemporary despite being about a very middle class family in the 1930s complete with au pair, cook, and boarding school, I loved the section on magazine Christmas present suggestions.

I'm reading The Doctor Will See You Now by Dr Amir Khan, about life as a GP. Seems a lovely guy and very readable with short chapters.

Another vote for Adam Kay - enjoyed his books.

If you enjoy historical fiction Daisy Jones and The Six is good with short chapters. It's about a fictional band (based on Fleetwood Mac) and each chapter is told through different mediums e.g. interviews, articles, perspectives of different band members.

Graham Norton's novels are also nice easy reads.
