I wish authors would have a full set of books ready to go when they publish their first book even if it’s only one book a year released

I’ve just re-read a series of book for the umpteenth time, and I’m still gutted.

It’s been 5 years and there is still no sign of a new one being released, and it’s left on such a cliff hanger.

Whhhhhhhyyyyyyy?!

How's about poor Sue Grafton? She wrote up to Y in her series of alphabet detective novels, which I absolutely love. Then she sadly died before Z was written.
What a shame. Sad I got about halfway through the series quite a long time ago when I lived in the US and the paperbacks were easily available in the supermarkets, but didn't continue with them when I was back in the U.K.

I read as far as Y, the last one. It was not up to her normal standard, and I was sad to think she had been pushing herself onward despite her ill health. Much missed, she was a very sound writer. Her characters are great.
Incidentally the final Montalbano book was written many years ago, and kept safe by the publisher. The late Andrea Camilleri did us readers a tremendous favour!

I totally agree about Jasper Fforde, and its not like he's not writing, its that he keeps swapping about between so many streams. On his website he alleges Shades of Grey 2 will be out in 2022, and another Thursday Next after that

Yes I was so sad when Sue Grafton died. Her books were great and I love the character.

"Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss was released in 2007, followed by "Wise Man's Fear" in 2011.

Been waiting since then.
