With all the new releases from publishers this week and more to come in October what are you looking forward to? I can’t wait for the new Ken Follett and am wondering about the new Louise Penny and Anne Cleese’s-or do I wait until they’re in paperback....Richard Osman’s novel looks fun too if you like cosy crime

I'm looking forward to Susanna Clarke's new one. And the latest Lyra short story by Philip Pullman.

There is a sequel to Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg coming out. I am very very excited by this.
Also new Jacqueline Wilson. I always get new books by Jacky on the release date.

Unusually for me I have a couple on pre-order

The new Cormoran Strike

The prequel to Pillars of the Earth (called the Morning and the evening-or something like that)

Troy by Stephen Fry

Garth Nix’s new one is due out at the end of September, The Left-Handed Booksellers of London.

Most fantasies set around libraries or bookshops are disappointing (not all, Nix’s Clariel and Charlotte English’s Lokant Libraries are exceptions), but I go on hoping, and I enjoy Garth Nix’s writing.

A book of essays by Hilary Mantel, and the new Nick Hornby novel.

There’s an authorised Victoria Wood biography in October that I’m looking forward to.

I have pre ordered Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish's book called Clanlands due to be released in November.

English Pastoral by James Rebanks. A Shepherd's Life was my book of 2015, and this is poetic and thought-provoking about how we should farm the English landscape to tiptoe between agribusiness, wildlife, conservation/environmental issues and allowing small farmers to earn a living. And he writes like an angel. There's not much I buy in hardback on publication, but this is exceptionally good and massively important.

Bookmum08 - I did not know about the FGT sequel. I love that book, and film.
The film is also one of my favourite sources of trivia.
Fannie Flagg appeared in Grease as the school nurse. And there we are, my groundbreaking contribution to the discussion. I’m off to preorder the FGT sequel.

Just bought the new Cormoran Strike. Can't wait to get started on this.

Quite like the sound of Louise O'Neill's new novel - apparently it's inspired by the podcast West Cork, which I loved.

MinnieJackson · 21/09/2020 21:18

The new Lisa Jewell and shalini Boland

SatsukiKusakabe · 22/09/2020 07:38

The new Robert Harris, V2
Summerwater by Sarah Moss
V for Victory by Lissa Evans
Inside Story Martin Amis
Piranesi Susanna Clarke
The Mantel essays
