Please recommend similar style of books/authors.

I am getting a bit fed up of the all the murder type of books and just want a good story.

I also liked The Winner by David Baldacci.

I haven’t read any Jeffrey Archer, but experience suggests that Archer fans often also like Bryce Courtenay and John Grisham. You could also try Ken Follett, Lee Child and Daniel Silva.

Thank you, I have read some John Grisham and Ken Follett but will check out the others.

Dan Brown.
I've never read any but maybe Wilbur Smith.

Just read The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley. Although there is a murder in it, it’s more about discovering the lives of the people.

Also, read the first two in The Seven Sisters series by Lucinda Riley. Really enjoyed them. Basically each sister (one sister per book) sets out to find details about their biological parents (they’re adopted). It’s a bit like Long Last Family but are well written and interesting.

Maeve Binchley - good stories. About people and their lives, than chick lits.

The Wall - John Lanaster - dystophian book but my dp favourite book this year (and I don’t normally do these types of books)

Oh think we have the same likes. Read the Winner years ago and re-read during lock down. Also loved loved Absolute Power by Baldacci but best of all the Amos Decker series also by Baldacci. Aside from that Grisham but he's becoming somewhat boring now.

Try the older James Paterson books, pop goes the weasel, four horsemen etc the whole Alex Cross series. Though have given up on Patterson now as his new books especially those he co-writes are terrible!

I hope I don't cause offence by saying this, but Jeffrey Archer is my guilty pleasure of books!!
Recently I've read and loved Maggie O'Farrell's "Hamnet" and "I am I am O am". I'd also recommend Sebastian Barry's "Days without end". None of these books are crime novels but they're all well written and still easy to read, really interesting/captivating plots and characters. I am... is actually a memoir a collection of stories about incidents in Maggie's life but it's so interesting I couldn't put it down 👍🏻

I second Ken Follett, strong stories with historical background.

I discovered Mr Archer whilst still at school with “Shall we tell the president?”, back in the 80s. Enjoyed his books ever since.

Will have a look at some of these, thank you and I have read all of James Paterson books including the Murder Club ones - loved them!
