audio books for insomnia

Can anybody recommended audio books for insomnia please?

Authors I like are Petra Durst-Benning, Nevil Shute, Dick Francis, Jodi Picoult, Stephen Fry, Bill Bryson (but I don't like the narrator he uses), Veronica Henry and many more, I don't tend to follow authors. I don't like horror - and certainly not when I can't sleep!

Well I couldn’t read Wolf Hall so downloaded the audible version. It worked like a treat for insomnia and knocked me straight out every time I try it.

I tend to go for plays on Radio 4

I love memoirs/autobiographies that are read by the author.

Recent ones that I've really enjoyed include: Michelle Obama's, Michael Caine's, David Attenborough's and Ben Fogle's (Up)

I listened to Persuasion free on the stories.audible.com site, the narrator had a very nice voice and helped me lots during my last period of insomnia. David Sedaris also good, lots of episodic funny stories so you can’t lose track when you fall asleep. David Baddiel has a free podcast on Audible called Sleeping which was quite informative about insomnia but didn’t actually help me sleep.

Try the Calm app - loads of sleep stories.

I second the Calm App. The sleep stories are wonderful and work a treat. The soothing voices are amazing! My favourite is Alan Sklar 😊

I listen to nature books like The Wood: The Life & Times of Cockshutt Wood - the diary of a wood owner. It's interesting too so you can listen to it several times before getting tired of it. Meadowlands has a different reader and is not so good in audio.
I can get too involved in fiction and end up wakening up to see what happens.

Another one I love is The Living Mountain; Nan Shepherd. A beautiful description of one woman’s journey into the Cairngorm mountains of Scotland.
Tilda Swinton narrates it. It’s exquisite.

Calm app has a free Stephen Fry story about lavender in Provence. You can't help but fall asleep listening to that!

The podcast series Phoebe Reads a Mystery.

For insomnia, shouldn't you choose the dullest books possible? Or listen to Reich's drumming music.
