Page turners to hold my concentration.

Lots going on at the moment, not feeling 100%. I'm struggling to read Rebecca- Daphne du Maurier, as you need to be able to concentrate, so going to put it on hold for a bit.

Any suggestions for fast pace, page turners? Happy with thrillers.

Sleep. By CL Taylor
I read it during storm Ciara last week in a campervan!

The Shetland series by Ann Cleeves - I'm on the last one and going to move on to the rest of her books and hope that they're as good. Really worth reading.

Witness X by S. E. Moorhead. So gripping!

BadMoon · 15/02/2020 11:59

I find that all the Lisa Jewell books keep me gripped.
The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell and The Corset by the same author.
The Light Between the Oceans - ML Stedman
Circe - Madeline Miller
All the David Nichols books.

Sorry I wouldn't say that they are fast-paced but I wouldn't call them all page turners - completely gripped me.

BadMoon · 15/02/2020 12:01

I mean I WOULD call them page turners!!

I really liked Safe on Netflix so I started reading Harlan Coben's books and now I'm hooked! You can romp through them without too much brain power and they're entertaining.

bellinisurge · 15/02/2020 12:45

Harlen Coben is great for this. As is the Havk Reacher stuff. Emily Barr's stuff also good for this.

BeardedMum · 15/02/2020 13:20

The broken girls Simone St James. Very spooky.

Thank you everyone. So many good ideas, I'm going to start off with 'Sleep' and add the rest to my to be read list.

Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano is what I'm reading at the moment and that would be good for half concentration I think. It's about a boy who is the only survivor or a plane crash and it flips between the plane before it crashed and the present day where Edward is coping with it all, but it's very easy to follow and also not predictable I don't think.

Redrobin15 · 15/02/2020 16:53

That sounds interesting, thanks cheese.

Try Dark Matter by Michelle Paver - short but very gripping! It’s hugely atmospheric and very well written.

emsmum79 · 02/03/2020 20:48

Linwood Barclay is a great writer for page-turners. Once you've read a few they are a bit samey, but I've not read one I disliked.

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 02/03/2020 20:50

The new Nicci French is good. The Lying Room. Back to how she wrote in her earliest books. I read it in 2 days.

BovaryX · 16/03/2020 15:59

I really like CJ Sansom. He writes Tudor murder mysteries which are really gripping. I am currently reading Lamentation, would recommend him if you, the historical context is fascinating and his central character Shardlake is interesting
