I’m looking for something soothing, cheerful and optimistic along an escapism and life improving theme.
I don’t mind turmoil and challenges within but I need a happy ending.
Any recommendations?

The Garden of Lost and Found, Harriet Evans Smile

It’s an oldie, but Mary Stewart’s Thornyhold about a young woman inheriting a cottage with a secret fulfil’s your criteria. It is a lovely book.

Susanna Kearsley features old houses and new starts in several of her books. And if you enjoy Katie Fforde, Saving Grace and Stately Pursuits are light, but entertaining.

And the one I keep recommending, Laurie King’s Folly.

59 memory lane might fit that bill?

The Year of Living Danishly. Always makes me want to up sticks and go north!

Although that’s non-fiction!

If you haven't read A Year in Provence already, that will tick the box nicely. It is very funny too, and an extra bonus, there's bound to be a copy lurking in a charity shop near you.

Mrs Fytton's Country Life. Though I don't really approve of the ending.
