Best children’s audiobooks?

On the Harry Potter thread, someone mentioned Stephen Fry’s audiobook version.

Can anyone recommend other audiobooks for children?

We have really enjoyed Kate Winslet’s Enchanted Wood/Faraway Tree www.amazon.co.uk/The-Magic-Faraway-Tree/dp/B00H3Y9SY0

We didn’t get on well with Dick King-Smith ‘The Classic Collection’ due to a combination of poor diction and overly fast reading, which made it hard to follow.

When my DC were younger they liked the BBC full dramatisation CDs, particularly The Railway Children. They are done as an audio play with a full cast. They also liked You're a Bad Man Mr Gumm, the Hank Zipzer series and David Baddiel's kids' books.

We're just moving this thread over to what we're reading for the OP. Flowers

Me and DD recently listened to The Boy at the back of the class.

Really lovely story about the refugee crisis. DD is 8 and throughly enjoyed it.

We love the Just William series read by Martin Jarvis.
David Tennant reads the ‘How to Train your Dragon’ series, so they are great too.

Radio 4 comedy rather than audiobooks but my 3 ranging in age from 5-13 all love Cabin Pressure. 27 half hour episodes, I can recite you any one of your choice, we have listened so often....

The Magic Faraway Tree is good. It has about 10 cds in the box. My five yr old loves it but probably aimed at older children

My DC love audiobooks and listen to loads but are fairly fussy about narrators. What ages are you looking for?

Their favourites include How to Train Your Dragon books and The Wizards of Once both read by David Tennant, The Accidental series by Tom McLaughlin, The Creakers by Tom Fletcher, The Explorer by Katherine Rundell, Tilly and the Time Machine by Adrian Edmondson and the Hetty Feather series.

They've also listened to all of the Jeremy Strong books and quite a few Roald Dahl (Matilda read by Kate Winslett was their favourite) and a few David Walliams.
