Domestic thriller reccomendations

Can anyone recommend any good domestic thriller type books? Bought myself a kindle earlier this year and want to get back into reading. The last books I read which I enjoyed were; the other woman, the perfect girlfriend and after I've gone.

I've not read any of those but I enjoyed The Sudden Departure of the Frasers by Louise Candlish

Liane Moriarty
Shari Lapena
Rachel Abbot

The above do some popular ones.

How about one written (and set) in 1958, @purplerainpurplerain?

The Hours Before Dawn by Celia Fremlin.

Matilda2013 · 03/10/2019 23:45

I've just finished No Further Questions by Gillian McAllister which was a really good read despite the subject. I'm also a big fan of Disclaimer by Renee Knight which is currently 99p on kindle

Behind Closed Doors by B A Paris is one of the most frightening but enjoyable domestic thrillers I have read in the last few years. (It is £2.99 on Kindle atm.)

ChessieFL · 04/10/2019 13:26

Clare Mackintosh also good (although not the he latest which is a completely different type of book).

Lie With Me by Sabine Durrant

Mark Edwards is good. Some of Teresa Driscoll not bad. Most of Mark Edwards' books were on Kindle Unlimited last month so you can read them for free.
Also check out the 99p daily offers, though a lot of them are a bit rubbish. The "psycho neighbour/best friend from hell who turns out to be in cahoots with your sister/husband" genre is spawning as much crap as the "chick lit" genre did 20 years ago.
Avoid like the plague any of the "couldn't put it down it was so terrifying and I never saw the twist coming" reviews on Amazon, most of them are awful- I sent Shari Lapiena back for my 99p refund it was so awful.

@TheCanterburyWhales - re Mark Edwards; OP and all should be aware that there are two authors called Mark Edwards writing domestic thrillers. The one to buy is he who wrote Magpies, Here To Stay, In Her Shadow etc. (He also writes good stuff with Louise Voss.)
There is another Mark Edwards whose writing is abysmal! His reviews tend to be 1 Star with comments like, "Never read such drivel."

Deecaff · 04/10/2019 18:13

Our House by Louise Candlish
Exposure by Helen Dunmore - set in the 1950s / cold war but I'd still class it as a domestic thriller

tobee · 04/10/2019 21:43

Was intrigued by @rosegoldwatcher comment re the two Mark Edwards. So I did some research. The one to avoid is called Mark A Edwards!! Confused

EauDeChlorine · 07/10/2019 21:34

Blood orange by H Tyce
Tideline by P Hancock - mixed reviews but I enjoyed this one.

commanderdalgliesh · 07/10/2019 21:39

Nicci French. There's a new one out.

purplerainpurplerain · 07/10/2019 22:05

Thanks all will check them out

Into the darkest corner, Elizabeth Haynes, chilling!

64sNewName · 07/10/2019 22:16

The good Mark Edwards must be so bloody irritated by the existence of the rubbish Mark Edwards.

ChristmasFluff · 12/10/2019 22:42

Secret Smile by Nicci French was my first thought

Witchofzog · 12/10/2019 22:44

Camilla Way has never written a bad book. Ditto Lisa Jewell. You won't be disappointed

morrisseysquif · 13/10/2019 22:07

I enjoyed this

what you did

morrisseysquif · 13/10/2019 22:11

Checking out Mark Edwards. Heck even more free samples tempting me! Too easy to download the whole book, although sometimes I manage to borrow them from the library.

Chattercino · 13/10/2019 22:14

Behind Closed Doors- couldn't put it down!

Rupertpenrysmistress · 13/10/2019 22:37

Mark Edwards is brilliant also Katerina diamond.

TheCanterburyWhales · 14/10/2019 09:36

I sent a Mark Edwards back to Unlimited in a humph yesterday because Goodreads had the "A" between the Mark and the Edwards...then I went to Amazon and it's not, it's the real, good one! So I redownloaded.
What a nightmare (for the Magpie Mark Edwards!)
