Does thriller include crime novels? If yes: I really loved the Harry Hole series by Jo Nesbo. Some of the books are more like detective novels (murder at the beginning, book about solving it), some are about serial killers (scarier, killings troughout the book).

I generally love scandinavian crime authors.

Anatomy of a Scandal by Sarah Vaughan is great and easy to get into. It's a political thriller set in the context of me too.
