Audio books

Hello wondering what everyone uses to listen to audio books. Currently using my library's borrow box service. For a free service it's fantastic. Can only have 6books at a time and quite often have to wait on reservations. I listen to around one a week. Audible seems quite dear at one book a month

I use Audible and love it but I'll admit I've never found a free equivalent so I've not thought too hard about the price. You get one free book a month and can purchase more on top, but I tend to use my free book for some of the behemoth 30+ hour ones so they keep me going for almost the whole month anyway! It's much cheaper than buying the audiobooks outright, and even if you cancel your subscription you keep the books you've 'bought'.

Ok so the free book, is that part of your prime membership? It is that just your audible subscription?

It's part of the audible subscription, I don't think you need Prime on top of it. You get one free credit per month which you can use to purchase one book, regardless of the book's price.

Prime is a completely separate thing to the audible subscription. I use audible and love it - I did the year’s subscription upfront which works out cheaper per credit, and used a lot of the credits when they have a two-for-one offer - if you do that for every credit it goes down to something like £3 per book which I think is really good. Obviously that only works if you can afford the upfront lump sum and like enough books in the two for one deals though!! They usually have a good selection though.

Will have a nosey, I do go through a lot and get frustrated being on waiting lists with BorrowBox

I posted a link on another thread to an Audible offer - 2 free books if you haven't had a subscription, 2 further books if you have Amazon Prime (it's a 90 day trial). So potentially 4 books and no need to spend a penny as long as you remember to cancel before the fees kick in. Choose wisely and it could keep you going for a while!

I got offered a deal today. Three credits for £18. I think I need to take them up on that.

tobee · 26/04/2019 00:29

I like Audible. To add to above they also have daily deals costing £1.99 and £2.99 which are often great. They have other sales now and then and some free content.

tobee · 26/04/2019 00:30

To clarify, with the daily deal, for 24 hours they have one book available at either £1.99 or £2.99.
