Recommendations for a 14 year old DS

My DS is a reluctant reader. He has dyslexia, only recently diagnosed. His interest in reading is sporadic. He has however just gobbled up the first two Arena 13 books by Joseph Delaney. The third is due to arrive from Amazon tomorrow.
Anyone got any recommendations of something similar to keep him on a roll?
I have suggested the Spooks series by the same author but he has tried and isn't keen

Rick Riordan books
The Mechanic by Mark Presley - about formula 1

according to 14 year old DS.

Wish I could help but fantasy is not my DS's preferred genre.

I should know really as a teacher but I feel a bit ou of the loop!

Has he tried Wonder? Both of mine loved that.

Also, Nowhere Emporium : specifically written for that age group with a male protagonist, which is getting rarer.

Will check them out. Thank you
I am actually gobsmacked he has read these 2 so quickly. I am trying to get the balance between being encouraging and scaring him off!!

My ds is younger but I’ve just bought him a couple of Choose Your Own Adventure books from the Fighting Fantasy series by Livingston/Jackson that I read as a kid. You can play it with dice and keep score or just read through the different scenarios. They are quite good fun and he has been engrossed with them.

The Patrick Ness Walking Chaos series

Philip Reeve Mortal Engines

Eoin Colfer Artemis Fowl

John Flanagan’s Ranger series. Anthony Horowitz’s Alex Rider series. Also, perhaps some non-fiction? There are a couple of cool books on spycraft for teenagers, which might be fun. Someone gave me a copy of the SAS guide to surviving absolutely everything, and that was entertaining, especially if I ever get charged by a rhino.

Thanks everyone. Hoping we can find something interesting in that lot! You are all amazing.

Noughts and crosses series by Malorie Blackman

The Windsinger triology by William Nicholson

The Tripods series by John Christopher

My dyslexic child loved the Demon Headmaster series of books as they made the transition from Wimpy KId type books to "novels"

Muddle Earth series - my DS(15) enjoys these, and he doesn't read much
Also the Gone series

I would second Artemis Fowl - first thing I thought of when I read your post, and the film is out later this year.

I would add a word of caution around Pratchett - they are great and your son will probably enjoy many of them - but pick where to start. Don’t start at the beginning, maybe start with the Death trilogy or the wee free men series (you don’t lose anything by doing this)

I would recommend Tamora Pierce - perhaps start with the Winding Circle series. I started at about 13 with the song of the lioness quartet which has a female protagonist which I loved but your DS may find it harder to get into?
