I love when people recommend books and authors to me, it certainly saves scouring the shelves looking for the next gem. However, recently i've been more hesitant in passing on some brilliant books to others. Perhaps it's unfair of me as most of the books i've actually really enjoyed, but I don't want others to be left frustrated by long waits, or series which start off strong then taper off into jumbled chaos.

I was just wondering if anyone else has ever felt this way?

One to start off which has caused me much frustration over the years, is Patrick Rothfuss' The Kingkiller Chronicle. It's such an immersive and detailed series, but it has been hanging unfinished now for 8 years.

Definitely the Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum series.
Also the Pierce Brown Red Rising books. I gave up on Iron Gold. Still enjoyed the Dresden Files until book 15!

Another one here waiting for 3rd Kingkiller book - sigh. And have totally given up on GoT. Re-read stephen kings work starting with Carrie. Used to love those books so much but am finding them average now. Have only recommended 2 authors for good series - Miles/Christian Cameron and the Steven Erikson series Malazan books of the fallen.

Sophie Hannah's Charlie Zailer series. I loved the first few, just couldn't wait for a new one to come out. I'm not sure what happened exactly but I started to find them very samey. Also the on off relationship between Charlie and Simon irritated the hell out of me! Sorry Sophie - I have heard you speak a few times (live and on TV ) and have always enjoyed listening to what you have to say about writing in general.
