Anyone have a Kobo?

Do you ever have trouble finding books on the Kobo site that can be found on Amazon? I want to move from Kindle to Kobo and this is my only concern.

I know Kindle Unlimited books are only available on Amazon, but I don't buy self-published books so I'm not bothered about that. I'm wondering if there are many trade published books that aren't put on Kobo for whatever reason.

I did search a random selection on the Kobo site and all were available, but I still feel a bit of hesitation.

I've had both, I swapped my Kobo for a kindle as the books are much cheaper on kindle with the regular deals etc.

However if your local library has overdrive you can get free library e books on Kobo. It's a lot of faff though, and my laptop was so slow I couldn't be bothered with it all anymore. There was a version that connected straight to overdrive without having to use a computer but it was a lot more expensive.

I did prefere the Kobo interface, and don't really like the way amazon works as a business. But I don't have much spare cash and kindle is much more affordable for me.

I had a kobo and liked it a lot (dropped it sadly, screen broke). I never had a problem finding the books I wanted in kobo. But I also continued buy via Amazon and used an application called calibre on my laptop to convert kindle files to a file that can be used in any other reader. Worked a treat. Maybe a little bit of extra faff though.

I've just had a look and they all connect to overdrive now. On that basis I'd definitely recommend a Kobo.
In answer to your question, yes there was occasionally a book that that I couldn't find on Kobo, but generally they were just dearer.

Thanks all. I already use Calibre so good to know that's an option!

If you want to use Overdrive for your library, check that your library uses Overdrive. Mine doesn't.

Yey to Kobo! I love mine, it's v old now (7 years), but still going strong whilst my mum is on her third kindle. It's white with a turquoise back, so much prettier than a boring black kindle!

(Oh and all the open source / library stuff too obviously! Never had a book i can't get. Sometimes it's cheaper than Amazon, sometimes more expensive)

I don't even know where my local library is. Blush I know it's important to support them at the moment, but I can only walk for a few minutes so I hardly ever go to physical shops/facilities now.

You can check the Overdrive thing online, but you will need to have a library card/registration to download stuff. Can maybe do that online? Assuming you are thinking of the advantage of library ebooks.

I’ve had my kobo for nearly 7 years - I love it. I buy books from the kobo site (isn’t it linked to WHSmith?) and have never struggled to find what I was after.
