Am finding this very tedious and hard going. Is it worth sticking with?

I’ve started this on audiobook - I loved that I happened to be on a run at the same time that the narrator was and I was interested in the Northern Ireland setting but I’m finding it a bit tedious now, especially the way of naming characters - especially ‘Maybe Girlfriend,’ argh!

That's a lovely image jellyfish. As an audiobook refuser I hadn't considered the opportunities for synchronicity with one's daily activities.

There must be a small, distinct sub-set of the global population of readers who sighed with recognition and satisfaction at the way Anna Burns named her characters. Why does it seem so entirely natural to me? And proper 'Lucy Smith' names so invariably artificial?

Do keep going! There are some staggeringly hilarious passages. That and the complexity of familial, social and political relationships make it unmissable.
