And if you've already started reading it, do you like it?
Mine is "Sofia Khan is Not Obliged", which is like Bridget Jones from the perspective of a Pakistani Muslim. Am loving it as it is so interesting to learn about the dating rules and there is a lot of humour. Only very minor thing about it that I dislike is that the time stamps do not always match the events, because she will write abbut them after they happen so it just makes it a little confusing.
Would love to know what everyone else is starting.

The Woman in the Window. Very enjoyable so far, hope the ending doesn't disappoint like a lot of similar books.

Greenteandchives · 02/01/2019 20:45

Sorry anna I didn’t rate Normal People at all. I couldn’t wait to finish it and start something more interesting.

Sally Rooney is proving to be quite a divisive author on MN! I think she's a genius but lots of people on the 50 Book threads think differently.

CantstandmLMs · 02/01/2019 21:02

I started All The Birds in the Sky by Charlie Jane Anders today and so far it's right up my street!

AckYourHole · 02/01/2019 21:19

Because we are Bad: OCD and a girl lost in Thought was a fascinating read.

Have started re reading Zombie Fallout 1 by Mark Tufo - love it!

squirrelonapetridish · 02/01/2019 21:27

Just finished This Thing of Darkness by Harry Thompson which was brilliant. Just about to start Melmoth by Sarah Perry, loved The Essex Serpent so hoping this will be as good.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/01/2019 21:38

My first book was a re-read 'Nervöse Fische' by Heinrich Steinfest (Nervy fish???) do not know if it has been translated into English.

Next will be an update on public procurement regulations ...

Mine is The Other Hoffman Girl. Still. I started ages ago. It's really pissing me off because it's very good and readable but I'm past 100 pages but I'm not feeling a sense of forward movement.

I decided a while ago to not read the blurb on books because they often either give the game away or give me a false idea. So maybe that's the problem. Confused

I will continue though.

My current read is How To Stop Time which I have found to be interesting and clever. It’s not a cant put my book down page turner but still a great read and I am totally invested in the main character Toms life story.

I just finished Hearts Invisible Furies - absolutely loved it.

About to start Becoming by Michelle Obama.

tobee · 03/01/2019 13:15

CakeInMyFace · 05/01/2019 20:50

I am reading Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith and it's very good so far. I read The Farm recently by him and really enjoyed it.

Searching for my next read but not sure what I fancy!

babybythesea · 05/01/2019 21:19

I've got several on the go.
I'm reading Gentlemen and Players by Joanne Harris for my book group. I've enjoyed the start of it - it's hefty but hopefully I can get through it before the meeting.
I'm also reading The Savage Garden because it looked interesting. I borrowed it from my aunt when we visited her over Christmas but that was before I realised I had to read Gentlement and players!
And I'm reading Scarket and Ivy in my kindle. I'm really enjoying it. It's a children's book and I started it as a way to get my 9yo daughter reading more, and also using her kindle to read rather than just play games. I downloaded it on to both her kindle and my kindle, and then we read it in tandem (she reads a bit and then tells me how many chapters she's read, and the game is I have to catch up and then w can chat about it and what we think is going to happen. My tactic seems to be working as she's really getting into it.)

biancamelody · 05/01/2019 21:23

I just finished The Tattoist of Auschwitz and was an incredible read. It's based on a real story and although it was really hard hitting it was also a super easy read as it is so well written. Highly recommend.

Grace212 · 05/01/2019 21:25

@babybythesea

do tell us what you think of G&P - I loved it! Might put that to one side for a re-read.

babybythesea · 05/01/2019 21:33

Oh, and I got given "On this day in history" by Dan Snow for Christmas, so I'm trying to read that. The right entry for each day, 5 days in and I'm on track!

Mozartinmyfanjo · 05/01/2019 21:39

I am reading “7 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle“, really enjoying it and the concept of the book is very interesting.

laramara · 05/01/2019 21:52

I'm reading the latest Robert Galbraith, Cormorant Strike book, Lethal White; although I'll
definitely finish it, I'm not finding it as page turning as the earlier ones as it seems a bit slow.

ApolloandDaphne · 05/01/2019 21:55

I've been on holiday for a week. I read Bitter Orange, the tattooist of Auschwitz and Postcards from a Stranger and am now reading the Blind Assassin.

Doilooklikeatourist · 05/01/2019 21:59

Half way through ‘The Mars Room’. I’ve started the year by reading all six 2018 Man Booker pride short list. This is the first one.
