Books set in both the UK and US?

Both cultures mean a lot to me. Most of the books I have read usually take place in one or the other, with occasional small references from or characters from the other. But I was wondering if anyone knows of a book that is set in both countries throughout?
Thanks.

Changing Places

If you enjoy non-fiction, you have probably read Bill Bryson, but worth mentioning, just in case.

WaterBird · 12/12/2018 09:00

@Claraschu
I will have to check out more Bill Bryson. I've only read one book by him, The Life and Times of a Thunderbolt Kid.
Changing Places sounds intriguing. It puts me in mind of the film The Parent Trap.

Forgot to say I also enjoyed Dyan Sheldon when I was younger, about the girls swapping places in the other country.

I think David Lodge is really funny, and I love Bill Bryson. Did you like The Thunderbolt Kid? You could try Notes from a Small Island and Notes for a Big Continent; they both reflect on what it is like to live in both places.

I really liked the Thunderbolt Kid. Will check out David Lodge.

Jane Green, Jemima J. One of my favourite books ever. A good reflection of both cultures.

On Green Dolphin Street by Sebastian Faulks. Set in the USA and UK in 1960. (More US than UK). Utterly brilliant.

RosyfingeredDawn · 12/12/2018 20:51

Swing time, Zadie Smith.

WaterBird · 12/12/2018 22:11

Susan Howatch's The Rich Are Different and the sequel Sins of the Father (loosely based on the Caesar/Cleopatra/Anthony story too).

AppleScoop · 13/12/2018 00:03

Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon. It's the 4th in a series of books so you might want to read the first three first.

UrbaneSprawl · 14/12/2018 14:32

84 Charring Cross Road.

DownWentTheFlag · 14/12/2018 14:35

Ken Follet’s New Century trilogy is set in the UK, US, Russia and Germany across WW1, WW2 and the Cold War.

LadyLapsang · 28/12/2018 21:32

Anita Shreve The Pilot's Wife
Joanna Trollope Girl from the South
Another vote for On Green Dolphin Street
