My ds is a reasonably keen reader, not very adventurous in his taste, but he's top set for English so is very able to read, just sometimes distracted by other things...
His favourite subject is history, so I'm wondering if anyone can recommend some non-fiction for him - popular history aimed at the 11-14 age group? I'm thinking something along the lines of the Judith Flanders Victorian books, with the same focus on everyday life, but shorter and simpler (and not necessarily about Victorians).
He's read all of the Horrible Histories, so I'm hoping for something that bridges the gap between those and 500 page books aimed at adults.
