I’ve never read any Nevil Shute but his books always seem highly regarded.

Anyone read his stuff? Worth reading? And where would be a good place to start?

Thanks!

I loved them back in the day; may load a few on my Kindle for my holiday, but I can't do it now, or I'd have to buy more.

On The Beach frightened the wits out of me in my teens and helped make me environmentally and politically aware. He’s a very good writer, very much of his time (in a good way).

No Highway is very good too.

Trustee from the Toolroom was my favourite book as a teenager. I loved Alice but agree that on re-reading the casual racism is uncomfortable.
