On holiday and I've finished the book I brought with me. Holiday let has a couple of book shelves of books but no idea what to choose. I think most are detective/ thrillers. I'll read anything but don't want to miss picking a good one. Help please. Pictures of book shelves attached. Thanks.

I'm a bit concerned that they don't have a copy of Captain Corelli's Mandolin. I thought that was compulsory for holiday lets Confused

Kathy Reichs is great :)

What are you posting from? Kindle app a possibility?

I’d also read the PD James and Ian Rankin first - can’t tell what they are on my phone though.

I would also read the Dick Francis for old times sake as read them on childhood holidays in the 80s and if desperate the Ben Elton though he is insufferable and I doubt it’s aged well!

I'd read The Loop (which I really enjoyed first time round),the Clare Francis, and maybe PD James, and Ancestral Vices.
Anyone read The Storied Lif of AJ Fikry, which is a cool title Smile?
But I would be sad that there wasn't more variety.

The Loop, the Da Vinci Code or one of the Jeffrey Archers

'A matter of honour' is a good story if you can get over the fact that the author is a twit.

At least they're all in English. We've been to Tenerife and Mallorca and ended up in places where most other tourists are German and all the apartment books have been in German.

Very similar selection of books though, oddly. Luckily we have our kindles, but I can recommend a lovely apartment in a quiet area of Tenerife with a gorgeous sea view, hiking from the door and a bookshelf full of German language John Grishams and James Pattersons.

The Storied Life of A J Fikry is very good - A book about books! Always worth a read Grin

The Loop is brilliant!

I would go for the pelican brief or the Lee Child and then maybe a Jeffery Archer. I like low brow reading on holiday.

What kind of books do you like to find on holiday bookshelves. Ours are an overflow of our own bookshelves but I like to vary them a bit and keep them reasonably current.
