If he is well enough to read he is well enough to go to work.

harlan coben has a new thriller out - I haven't read it yet (waiting for paperback). It's a non myron one (if he reads them, he'll know what that means!).

Has he read the relatively new Rebus (Ian Rankin)?

or he can work his way through Henning Mankell (you can probably get them all in the library)

If he like crime thrillers - has he tried any of James Patterson's - he's really good. Patricia Cromwell is also highly recommended.

Brilliant thanks for the suggestions, I will be going to the library today to stock up.

He has a nasty bowel disease that has flared up, he is taking steriods which sends him off the planet, so he gets bannished to the bedroom with tv and books lol.

Thanks again.

If you cat me I can send you a few James Patterson books I've read.

mummytosteven · 01/06/2007 17:30

Kathy Reichs
Nicci French
Barbara Vine

QueenofBleach · 01/06/2007 17:52

Jasper Fforde for laughs
David Baldacci fro crime

blueshoes · 01/06/2007 18:25

Mark Billingham, Harlen Coben. For scary stuff, Mo Hayder, if he dares.

turquoise · 01/06/2007 18:32

Lee Child's quite good - not more than about 3 or so before becoming too formulaic.

If he likes Harlen Coben, then Greg Iles is also good.

Tinker · 01/06/2007 18:38

Don't know Lisa Gardner but I've just started a Sue Grafton one which is very readable

Arabica · 01/06/2007 18:44

Tess Geritsen - lots of gory crime detail, try The Vanishing.
Sara Paretsky - PI with bags of attitude, great plots
Janet Evanovitch - hilarious exploits of female bounty hunter
Kathy Reichs - forensic anthropologist: interensting plots but dreadful characterisation and badly in need of a ruthless edit! Ditto Patricia Cornwell.

Men often dislike reading about female protagonists but I remember a flu-ridden DH loving the Paretskys. If he doesn't like them, you might!

blueshoes · 01/06/2007 18:47

Another gory one - Val McDermid. Enjoy.

april74 · 01/06/2007 20:38

Brilliant lots of great ones to try.

Thanks all.
