If I loved the Cazalet Chronicles...

What could I read next? I'm on the fourth book, have the fifth ready and waiting and I'm already feeling bereft at the thought of finishing them all... I'm going on holiday soon and want to have some books loaded onto my kindle to look forward to. I have become completely immersed and obsessed with the Cazalets and their lives - if you also loved these books what else would you recommend?

A Murderous Innocence by Alison Skelton Scott

The series by Elizabeth Darrell (can't remember the name)

Beryl Kingston has written some good books too similar to the Cazalets.

Thanks EmilyAlice.

Try looking at the Persephone Books website. Lots of wonderful books including Dorothy Whipple. If you subscribe to their mailing list you get a magazine twice a year.

I also love Life After Life

You are right to be wary of other EJH. I enjoy them but they are definitely not in the "family chronicle" genre. Forsyte Saga is a must.
DH loves the Patrick Melrose but I could not get into them.
Elizabeth Goudge's Eliot Family trilogy might appeal. I first read (the second book) when I was 12. I have re-read all 3 about every 5 to 7 years since. They never pall.

Has anyone mentioned Judith Lennox? I don't think she is in EJH's class, but her books are thoroughly enjoyable.
