Here's a substantial article that might provide you with some new possibilities:

A Golden Age for Dystopian Fiction

Thanks for that Ms. I’m reading the Boy on the Bridge at the moment after finding a new liking for Dystopian fiction. Before my new found discovery I’d only really read 1984 and a few John Wyndham novels.

bakingdemon · 20/07/2018 22:31

I absolutely love dystopian novels so I will read this with interest!

MsAmerica · 15/08/2018 23:39

Julie, it amazes me to find anyone besides me knows of John Wyndham.

Besides "1984," hope you've also read "Brave New World."

This is an older thread I know, but I’ve just found this board. Highly recommend The Mandibles by Lionel Shriver for any fans of alternate near reality / dystopia.

ThePricklySheep · 31/08/2018 21:41

Oh, I loved The Mandibles. I miss them Blush.

I’m currently loving Station Eleven by Emily St John Mandel which is fairly similar.

Blankspace4 · 03/09/2018 18:27

@thepricklysheep thank you - I’ll add that to my list!

EmGee · 06/09/2018 12:08

The Power by Naomi Alderman

NicoAndTheNiners · 06/09/2018 12:10

Thanks, will get some ideas. Love dystopian stuff.

LadyWithLapdog · 11/09/2018 19:01

I got a bit bored of The Mandibles at the time but now I wish I'd kept the book to re-read it (as the Trumpian era seems quite post-civilisation).

Blankspace4 · 11/09/2018 21:50

@ladywithlapdog yes it’s definitely worth a re-read if you can find it second hand. Quite spooky how many of the ‘dystopian’ elements of the story are now starting to look more and more like reality.

Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel is excellent.

thisonehasalittlecar · 07/11/2018 22:20

I liked the Girl with all the Gifts

CoteDAzur · 09/11/2018 22:29

"it amazes me to find anyone besides me knows of John Wyndham."

Come over to the 50-Book thread. Many of us have read & reviewed John Wyndham books, like this.

Move2WY · 09/11/2018 22:32

Oh wow. I love this thread. Actually the best thread ever - new books for me!!

thenightsky · 09/11/2018 22:36

Station Eleven is good. I read it on holiday. I loved John Wyndam but not read for decades.

Didsomeonesaybunny · 09/11/2018 22:51

Thanks so much OP. A vote for never let me go / harrowing but a real thinker and love the author.

I love John Wyndham and adored 1984, I read it and re-read it.

The Carhullan Army is a good one, written by Sarah Hall. I also enjoyed The Chaos walking series by accident after my 15 year old left The Knife Of Never Letting Go in the bathroom. It made a change to have something to talk to him about.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplands · 12/11/2018 20:22

Station 11 is lovely. Only Ever Yours is also good, very very sad ending.

bbcessex · 28/11/2018 23:22

Will add Station 11 to my list.

Just finished ‘Flawed’ by Caroline Aherne - was best read I’ve had in ages.

bbcessex · 28/11/2018 23:25

Cecilia Ahern, apologies

SheldonTheWonderShlong · 05/12/2018 16:41

Station 11 very good
