My daughter & I just love this book
Korky Paul's illustrations are wonderful and you find something new every time you read the book. He illustrates 'Winnie the Witch' books too.

The rhymes flow and the text is very, very funny. Bedtime is such a joy when there are books like this to read

looks good

but how do parsley and ghastly rhyme??

shonaspurtle · 27/05/2007 20:26

I bought this for my 6 month old ds because it's my favourite... Had been waiting for an excuse for years.

I think they maybe rhyme if you're posh and say an approximation of gharstly.

jackie2kids · 27/05/2007 20:27

That looks good, love winnie the witch.

Desperately need more books for DS (nearly 4) as he is loosing interest in bedtime stories, only wants books about spiderman.

This might light a spark.

I find some rhyming books difficult as lots seem to be written with an english accent in mind......!

If you're anywhere near Abingdon, in Oxfordshire, Korky Paul is doing a children's event at the lovely bookshop there on June 9th.

Pink Lemon is a really lovely book, my girls 3 and 5 both enjoy it.

taffy101 · 27/05/2007 20:33

i think my daughter would LOVE this book, and i would too, which is always a bonus!

jackie2kids · 27/05/2007 20:37

Whats Pink lemon like Gofor3? Is it very girly?

goingfor3 · 27/05/2007 20:40

Pink lemon has a picture on each page but it's the wrong colour. For example there is a link lmeon and you choose the colour it should be from the colour swatches on the side of the page. There are all sorts of things like red snow, yellow fire engine. It's lots of fun for children.

JackieNo - That's fab news ! I used to live in Abingdon but live in Reading now so not too far to go.

I'm all excited now !

Thanks so much for the link

Thanks GF3, he likes colours. Thats 2 possibilities.

JackieNo · 27/05/2007 20:45

Tillyboo. It's quite a small shop, so definitely get a ticket, though.

Tillyboo · 27/05/2007 20:48

JackieNo - Will try calling tomorrow, perhaps they will be open ?
I love book shops and am I right in thinking their is a cafe and courtyard outside ? What a fab combination, especialy if children are made to feel welcome too

I'm not sure if they're open tomorrow. Yes - it's a lovely shop, and very child friendly (children's room with toys for them to play with and a small table and chairs for them to sit at and browse). They also do coffee and cake, and ice cream, out in the courtyard when the weather's up to it. The couple that run it have a 3-year old and a newborn.
