Have I made an awful decision?

Yes have been many times for work, but not yet with children. Have friend going this year and she's staying in the Tangerine Fields with her dcs and they're going to see Jeremy Strong and Morpurgo etc. Perhaps you are in fact my friend?

It's great fun, very relaxed, lots of dcs there and a good children's area. You'll have a ball. If it doesn't rain.

foxinsocks · 22/05/2007 12:31

they have a special children's programme - have you checked it out?

DimpledThighs · 22/05/2007 12:41

100times - I am not your friend - she sounds organised. Ohhhh, you have been for work - what's your job? I volunteer ushered at the Oxford Literary festival and that was so much fun.

tahnks fox - am off to google.

DT - get on the website and book some things you want the dcs to do NOW, otherwise it'll all be sold out and then it will be a bit grim, or at least you'll wonder what on earth you're doing there. Quick, quick.

MrsWho · 22/05/2007 19:41

I will be wearing all black (maybe stirpey footless 80's tights) with a black bob and I have two children and I swear a lot.

If you see me on Tuesday come and say hello if you dare!

I will be there Wed-Fri staying in Tangerine Fields with my 3 DDs. Maybe I am your friend 100times.
Sorry I will miss you DT, would love to meet some MNrs. I will be looking out for MrsWho though.

MrsWho · 23/05/2007 19:19

Will look out for both of you.
We are doing Mairi hedderwick on Tuesday and Lauren child and then Horrible histories on Weds.
Rosa were you doing Horrible Histories?
No idea what we'll be wearing but dd1 has very long (past waist ) length hair and very curly she is 7 and nearly as big as me (I am 5ft dark hair usually screwed into a knot or down)

TwoIfBySea · 23/05/2007 20:54

It is on Sky Arts all next week so I will watch from afar!

RosaLuxembourg · 23/05/2007 21:54

Yes we are doing Horrible Histories - I have very red hair and an Irish accent - my DDs have long hair too - oldest and youngest dark and middlest is blond(ish).

ahundredtimes · 23/05/2007 23:26

No Rosa not my friend she has two ds's, but may I say that you sound utterly lovely with your red hair and irish lilt and would be proud to call you my friend anytime. Have fun at Hay.

MrsWho · 25/05/2007 19:07

You may be easier to spot than me then Rosa!

(dd1 has now had her hair cut though and its mid back rather than waist)

RosaLuxembourg · 25/05/2007 19:10

Should we have a secret question and answer do you think? What do mumsnetters usually do when they spot someone they think may be a fellow mner?

Dogsby · 25/05/2007 19:10

oh fgs
will you see saint michael of mopurgo

Dogsby · 25/05/2007 19:11

we love him
get ds1 a sigend thing please

RosaLuxembourg · 25/05/2007 19:12

We will see the sainted Michael. Actually, DD1 spent a week on his farm last month - he visited once but she couldn't get near him due to being smaller and weaker than many of her classmates, so she is looking forward to seeing him properly.

Dogsby · 25/05/2007 19:13

omg
superthud

RosaLuxembourg · 25/05/2007 19:17

He runs a charity called farms for city children - they get to spend a week with their class and do lots of proper farm work - no tv either. If you are really lucky he comes and reads from the book he is writing - he did that with my friend's kid but DD's class just got a flying visit.

Dogsby · 25/05/2007 19:17

hmm we are near farms

foxinsocks · 25/05/2007 19:22

omg we are massive Morpurgo fans here

and I can claim my kids are city kids who never see the countryside

RosaLuxembourg · 25/05/2007 19:25

This is farms for city children

Mercy · 25/05/2007 19:32

Who was it that said 'Hay on Wye? Isn't it a sandwich?' or something similar

Some very well known American author iirc.

Nymphadora · 13/06/2007 14:10

I wanted to buy a sweatshort with that on but it was £40

Am debating booking a cottage in the area for next year now what does anyone think and can anyone suggest one?
Thinking more south west of Hay this time but within about 1/2 an hours travelling
