Can anyone recommend a book to help Preschoolers identify trees and other things nature-related to make walks more interesting for them

Well, the question is in the title. My dd is 4 but the book doesn't necessarily have to be geared towards her age-group. I am looking for something with good pictures.

This sort of thing?

Not a book, but a fold-out chart - something between a pamphlet and a poster.

We have lots of them - everything from trees (ie on the link) to clouds, to "colours in nature" (slightly wacky one) - and I was sure there was a "rocky shores" one that I must remember to take to Cornwall with us this summer. Not just plants - there's a "Bugs on Bushes" one that's apparently very popular.

If you are in/near London they also sell them at the Natural History Museum.

What I also like about them is that they are done as a flow-chart - so you automatically absorb masses about the scientific process of observation and discrimination.

Usborne books do nature spotter books - their catalogue is online

actually I rather like bug-hunting and nature collecting for art pictures

and my kids also like trying to find the fairy / sprite / bear

also love how quickly can you run to that tree, can you hop to that bush, can you walk backwards to that bush

I have a friend who is doing a horticultural course .. we went to france for the day .. she pointed out varieties of trees to me till I pointed out how extremely dull she was being and would she like another glass of wine ROFL

I take your point - secretly I think this book is more for DH than it is for DD1
