If I like Maggie O'Farrell

Recently discovered and very much enjoyed a couple of books by Maggie O'Farrell. I loved'The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox' and liked (but not quite as much!) 'This Must Be The Place'.
My tbr pile is empty so looking for recommendations from people who also like Maggie O'Farrell! I also like Some Tracy Chevalier (Falling Angels, Remarkable Creatures) and some slightly lighter things like Eleanor Oliphant. I adore 'The Handmaids Tale' and recently enjoyed 'The Power' but I don't like crime, thriller or mystery

Thank you! I have read a few Kate Atkinson books a long while ago and wasn't bowled over, but I might have another go as she's often recommended on here.

I’m not a big Kate Atkinson fan personally. But I agree everyone else seems to love her!

I have met maggie o'farrell a couple of years ago at a book signing in a very small town. Absolutely lovely woman, great to meet someone you admire and for them to be do down to earth and friendly. I have read all her books. I actually liked this must be the place a lot, having been less keen on the heatwave book. I was blown away by her first one, after you'd gone.

BoilYerHeid · 18/02/2018 12:29

After You'd Gone is absolutely my favourite Maggie O'Farrell. I see her ever year at the Edinburgh book festival Smile

I rather like Kate Atkinson too and LOVE Barbara Vine. I enjoyed the Light Between Oceans too. Also maybe Patrick Gale, and some Sebastian Faulks?

BoilYerHeid · 18/02/2018 12:29

Ooh Arcadia, snap!

tomhazard · 18/02/2018 13:02

Thank you for all these! I have read a lot of Sebastian Faulks - I don't like the war ones but really liked Engleby and Human Traces.
I am also looking forward to reading some more Maggie O Farrell !
