Audible?

I keep getting a Stephen Fry advert on my pages so i followed it over to Audible where he has narrated the complete works of Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes. Anyway, one thing led to another and I'm now signed up for a free trial and have used my free credit on this book.

Does anyone else have a subscription?

I'm really happy with it so far and absolutely loving the story. It's fab for when I'm stuck in the kitchen cooking or cleaning up. And it's great that you get to use your one monthly credit on any book at all regardless of price. And have I understood it correctly that you then keep the book each month and it stays in your library? It's unlikely that I'll get through all 70hrs of this book by the end of my free trial. So will I be allowed to keep it in my library as well as go ahead and get another one with my next credit (looking likely I will take out a subscription!).

Would appreciate anyone's feedback.

you keep the book forever, even if you cancled the book would stay in your library.

I always have a couple of audible books on the go, and the longer ones can take me a couple of months to finish.

and it's a good idea to sign up for the daoly deal email. One book a day is reduced to £1.99 or £2.99. Sometimes they are rubbish but every so often you get a gem. I got the first outlander for £2.99 a while ago.

Fantastic, thank you! So no rush to get it all listened to in the next month. I think I'll definitely be using my subscription for more expensive books that I wouldn't normally buy but quite fancy. Great idea about the email too. Quite excited about my new monthly treat now. Same price as Netflix but much more fulfilling. I cancelled Netflix because I wanted to read more in the evenings so I see Audible as being halfway there Smile

They also have a great no hassle returns feature. Even if you are half way (or more) through the book and decide that no, it’s actually pants and you are not enjoying listening to it you can return it and they will refund your credit.

Yes, I’m a big fan and am signed up. I also occasionally buy extra credits when offered. You do now own those audio books, whether you keep your subscription or not. I’m listening to Mythos by Stephen Fry which is fab (he narrates about half of the top 20 audio books in the UK!)

I’d also highly recommend signing up for whatever digital services your local library uses - Overdrive, RBMedia, BorrowBox, Hoopla etc. You need a library card, a pin, and an app and then you can just download audio and ebooks for free, and renew/return via the app when you’re ready. It’s awesome!

the app also has a sleep timer. So if like me you want to listen in bed before you go to sleep you can with out running the risk of falling asleep and accidently listening to the whole book and having to try and work out how for you had got.

You keep the books. I was a member of Audible for about 2 years but no longer subscribe. I discovered that my library has loads of audiobooks for free, you just need to download whatever app they have decided to use, pick your books and away you go. You don't get to keep the books obviously but it's free. I have found very popular books sometimes have a wait but you can reserve them.

I'm a huge Audible fan, listen on my commute and while I'm doing housework and exercising

The returns policy is great

And yes the book stays in your library for
Ever, you can also suspend your membership and pay nothing for a few months if you have a few months worthy backed up.

Look out for buy one get one free offers as well

Love it! Annual subscription is better value I think - 12 credits for £80 or I have 24 for £110 & quite often buy the daily deal or use bogof deals with my credits

I totally love it-enjoy so many books that I'd never have time to read otherwise

Anditstartsagain · 25/01/2018 21:53

I love it I listen to it in the car going to and from work and when cooking and cleaning. I think the only downside is Stephen Fry doesn't narrate every book after listening to him I find others irritating and have to get used to there style.

Love Audible. I bought that Sherlock Holmes collection a few days ago but havent started it yet.

I subscribe to one credit a month which is just enough for me although an annual subscription is better value.

I often save them to spend on 3 for 2 deals and as such I have a long list of books to listen to so will possibly pause my account for a few months.

I’ve listened to loads of great things through Audible and love that you can swap a book if you don’t like it.

I also use BorrowBox (library) but the choice isn’t as good and there is often a wait for books.
