I loved this book and I’m looking for recommendations for good wintery/Christmas reads. So if I loved this one, which others would I enjoy?

How about her follow up book To The Bright Edge of the World. It’s certainly very wintery (set in Alaska again).

Step Penny has a new book out called Under a Pole Star which is set partly in the Arctic. I'm listening to it at the moment and enjoying it very much, it does however have rather a lot of historical fiction shagging in. A lot of shagging. Just so you know. Her first book The Tenderness of Wolves was also a great read, really exciting, set in, er, Alaska maybe, or maybe Canada, somewhere snowy and with wolves.

Stef not Step.

It depends a bit on what aspect of the book you enjoyed, but if it is the arctic bit, I can also recommend "A woman in the polar night" by Christiane Ritter.

If it was more the magical/fairytale aspect, try Corrag by Susan Fletcher. Not the arctic (Scotland) but very good historical fiction with a bit of magical realism thrown in.

Following thanks for recommendations

It depends a bit on what aspect of the book you enjoyed,. I think it was partly the wintery scenes and partly the magical aspect of it, which is unusual as I don’t usually read fiction with an element of supernatural.

Thanks for the recommendations, I shall look forward to reading them Xmas Smile

A Year of Marvellous Ways by Sarah Winman isn't particularly wintry but does have similarities to The Snow Child. Like you, mystical themes aren't usually my thing, but I found both of these books charming.

Thank you Xmas Smile
